Handmade Holiday: Beaded Wine Charms
The idea
Beaded wine glass charms might be one of the easiest handmade gifts you can make! They're quick, inexpensive, endlessly customizable, and practical for your next gathering.
The idea is simple: create a set of charms that guests can attach to their wine glasses, with a different color, bead, or charm on each one so everyone can keep track of their drink.
Perfect for
The friend who loves to host, the wine lover, or anyone who appreciates a thoughtful handmade gift. They're especially fun for dinner parties, girls' nights, and holiday gatherings!
Make it your own
This is where you can have some fun! Choose beads in a coordinating color palette, mix and match different charms, or add letter beads with initials to personalize each marker.
My biggest tip: Make sure each wine charm has something that makes it different from the others! Whether that's a unique color, letter, or accent bead, the whole point is helping guests remember which glass is theirs.
You can make a coordinating set of four, six, or eight, depending on who you're gifting them to.
What you'll need
This DIY has a VERY simple supply list:
Supplies
Wine charm rings — the wire hoops that attach around the stem of a wine glass
Beads — choose your favorite colors, shapes, and sizes
Charms, accent beads, or letter beads — something to make each marker unique!
Tools (optional)
Jewelry-making pliers — helpful for straightening and reshaping the wire when adding beads
How to make it
No complicated techniques required!
Choose your beads. Pick a few beads for each ring, along with a unique accent, charm, or letter to distinguish it from the others.
Open the wine charm ring. If needed, use jewelry-making pliers to gently straighten the bent end of the wire so your beads can slide on.
Add your beads. String your chosen combination onto the ring, making sure any charms are facing the direction you'd like.
Secure the end. Use your pliers to carefully bend the wire back into its original shape so the ring can close securely.
Repeat! Create a coordinating set, giving each charm its own unique detail.
A little tip: Be gentle when straightening and bending the wire. Repeated bending can weaken it, so try to make your adjustments just once. Some wine charm rings also open and close without needing pliers, so check the style you're using first!
Make it a gift
A set of beaded wine glass charms makes a sweet little hostess gift all on its own, but I especially love the idea of pairing them with something else for a thoughtful, handmade touch.
A few pairing ideas:
Bottle of wine — a classic hostess gift with a handmade extra
Specialty olive oil — pair with a pretty bottle for the friend who loves to cook and entertain
Kitchen linens — bundle with a tea towel, cloth napkins, or a tablecloth in coordinating colors
Wine glasses — gift a set of glasses with a handmade charm already attached to each one
Hosting serveware — pair with serveware and entertaining essentials
